Excavations of Moidam 77 (Diameter: 33.30 m; Height: 7.50 m) undertaken by the Directorate of Archaeology, Government of Assam during 2020-21 revealed (i) a mantle of double-layered burnt bricks that secured the earthen mound (Ga-Moidam) on all sides, and (ii) a dwarf circular peripheral wall instead of the customary octagonal dwarf boundary wall, with the entrance across it from the west. Interestingly, the dwarf wall was constructed of both burnt bricks and cobbles (lathia stones) of different sizes. The use of cobbles in the wall may have certain philosophical connotation. Outside the Moidam, but within the boundary wall, there exists a small open area with cobblestone edging, figuratively referred to as a “ring of pearls”. It was most likely intended for maintaining a flower garden.
The burial vault, made of bricks, is rectangular on plan and has a corbelled ceiling. Close to ceiling base, on all of its four corners, are provided three iron nails, one on the top of the other, possibly to secure canopies and drapes over the entombed body.
৭৭ নম্বৰ মৈদামৰ ব্যাসাৰ্ধ ৩৩.৩০ মিটাৰ আৰু উচ্চতা ৭.৫০ মিটাৰ। এই মৈদামৰ খননকার্য চলোৱা হৈছিল ২০২০-২১ চনত। এই খননকার্যত আবিষ্কৃত হৈছিল গা-মৈদামক চাৰিওফালৰ পৰা আগুৰি থকা পুৰা ইটাৰ দুটৰপীয়া এখন আৱৰণ আৰু প্ৰৱেশ পথসহ এখন বৃহদাকাৰ দেৱাল। এই চাপৰ দেৱাল খন নিৰ্মিত হৈছিল পুৰা ইটা আৰু বিভিন্ন আকৃতিৰ লঠিয়া শিলেৰে। এনে লঠিয়া শিলৰ ব্যৱহাৰত নিশ্চয় কিছু দাৰ্শনিক তত্ত্ব নিহিত আছিল। মৈদামটোৰ বাহিৰফালে দেৱালৰ অন্তৰভাগত লঠিয়া শিলেৰে নিৰ্মিত এটুকুৰা ক্ষুদ্র মুকলি ঠাই অৱস্থিত যাক মুকুতাৰ আঙঠি বোলে। বোধহয় এই ঠাই এখন ফুলনিৰ উদ্দেশ্যে নিৰ্মাণ কৰা হৈছিল। মৈদামটিৰ সমাধিগহ্বৰ আয়তাকাৰ সমতলত ইটাৰে নিৰ্মাণ কৰা হৈছিল তাৰ ওপৰফালে কৰ্বেলযুক্ত এখন চালো আছিল। চালখনৰ চাৰিকোণত চাৰিটা গজাল শ-দেহৰ ওপৰৰ কাপোৰ বা চন্দ্রতাপ তৰিবলৈ ব্যবহাৰ ৰখা হৈছিল।
