The Sericulture Trail leads to Muga silkworm food plantation, which covers approximately 25 ha of area. The plantation supports socio-economic conditions of over 100 Muga farmers in the region.
The Ahom kings were instrumental in the development of Muga silk, a rare, golden-coloured silk that originated in Assam, India. Muga silk was exclusive for royalty, high-ranking officials, and nobility. The Ahoms traded Muga silk with other regions and overseas. They frequently gifted clothes made of Muga silk to visiting dignitaries.
Tourism development through promotion of the Muga culture in the area complements a significant aspect of the Moidams of Ahom dynasty.
